Annual Golf Outing Raises Funds for Foundation Scholarships

Proceeds from the golf outing support the MARSP Foundation Scholarship Fund, which provides professional development scholarships to public school employees. In July, the MARSP Foundation awards scholarships to eight Michigan public school employees to put towards fall classes and certifications. We appreciate the hundreds of members and MARSP supporters who make these scholarships possible each year.
With Legislature in Recess, We Look Ahead to Fall
Governor Whitmer delivered a “What’s Next” address on August 30 that laid out her policy priorities for the fall. However, the outcomes of two November mayoral elections in Warren and Westland will have a direct impact on what gets done this year and what the early 2024 legislative agenda will look like.
Steve Gordon's Dedication to Information
In 2002, Steven Gordon transitioned into a Human Resources and Finance position with Sault Area Public Schools. Early on in this role, he noticed a need for more information for school staff regarding retirement planning and benefits. He began searching for resources, and found MARSP’s Retirement Planning Services.
“I didn’t know much about MARSP,” said Steve, “In the beginning, I was just the guy that coordinated the retirement seminars. But I found that my values matched up with MARSP – like making sure that people are informed.”
