Retirement Planning for Michigan School Employees

MARSP chapters are helping make those resources known to today’s school employees this back to school season. The Gladwin County Chapter recently welcomed Gladwin and Beaverton school staff with snack bags and information about MARSP professional development scholarships and classroom project funding.

They're Preparing Students for the Future. Let's Help Them Prepare for Theirs.

Back to school season is here! Michigan’s teachers, administrators and support staff work hard every day to prepare students for the future. MARSP wants to help them prepare for theirs, too.

For many current school employees, retirement feels far away. There’s barely enough time to get through the day, let alone follow legislation involving MPSERS. But the decisions being made about the retirement system right now, and the choices made throughout a career, are already shaping the retirement they’ll eventually have. Fortunately, with MARSP in their corner, they don’t have to be an expert or do it all themselves.

Here’s how MARSP supports school employees throughout their careers and into retirement:

  • Professional development scholarships to strengthen their careers today.
  • Classroom project funding to help fill the gaps and give them the tools to succeed and stay in their field.
  • Retirement planning resources to help them plan and transition with confidence.
  • A peer network of people who’ve either already been where they’re headed, or are heading there right alongside them.
  • Advocacy to protect the retirement benefits they’re earning today.

Who do you know who is still working?

Friends, family members, former colleagues, and those in your local school district may not know MARSP is here for them.

Share this page, email a link to www.marsp.org/future-retirees, or print a flyer or two to pass along (below). The earlier school employees connect with MARSP, the stronger their foundation for the retirement ahead.
