MARSP Foundation Awards Scholarships to Public School Staff Across Michigan
Each year, the MARSP Foundation awards scholarships to advance their career in the public school arena. Scholarships can go towards:
- Four-year degree program
- Community college
- Technical/vocational institution in Michigan
- Seminars/workshops from Michigan professional organizations
This year, the MARSP Foundation awarded scholarships to eight public school staff from across Michigan for a total of $5,250 in awards.
“We appreciate the hundreds of MARSP members who make these scholarships possible through their donations,” says Marie Wilkerson, Foundation Board Chair, “As retirees, we understand the needs that working school personnel have to develop their skills and how financially challenging it can be to obtain additional education.”

High School Science teacher pursuing a Masters of Art in Learning, Design, and Technology - Madelynn St. Peter, Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate Schools
Payroll Specialist pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration - Jason Horricks, St. Ignace Schools
Former PGA Golf Director pursuing certification in secondary education - Heather Mitchell, Sault Area Public Schools
Health/P.E. teacher pursuing K-12 Physical Education certification - Sarah Schroeder, Kalkaska Public Schools
Paraprofessional pursuing professional development opportunity in behavioral health - Michelle Visser, Brimley Area Schools
Biology/Chemistry teacher pursuing Integrated Science certification - Cierra Lowe, Godwin Heights Public Schools
Youth Development Coordinator pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice - Tracy McCord, Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate Schools
Grants Coordinator pursuing Masters in Business Administration
