We are finding more and more actively working school personnel that are interested in joining our association. Because at some point you will retire and you’ll need to keep an eye on those plans throughout your career.  We are a nonpartisan organization that is focused on preserving and enhancing the pensions and health care benefits for retired public school employees.

MARSP’s retirement planning experts present: the “MRPS Pension Seminar” with all the essential information needed to start thinking about retirement. This seminar is available to all public school and community college employees who are members of the MPSERS retirement plan.

Topics include:

  • Health Insurance
  • Purchasing Service Credit
  • Pension Options
  • Retirement Planning and how to maximize your pension
  • Rights as a Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) retiree and who is best to represent those rights
  • Any other questions about retirement

The seminar is guaranteed to be:

  • Informative for those who are ready to retire and those who may not be ready for retirement for a few years
  • Presented in a simple easy-to-understand language
  • Insightful and realistic about the challenges and rewards of retirement

Staff will:

  • Learn the steps they need to take to retire
  • Gather information on a wide variety of topics associated with retirement
  • Discover aspects of retirement they may have not considered

LIFETRAXXⓇ is a personalized retirement analysis designed specifically for school district employees planning to receive payouts from a defined benefit pension plan. The ever-shifting national pension plan landscape makes it challenging to understand how these plans work, so LIFETRAXXⓇ can help answer important questions about your retirement.

The scholarship is available for all public school employees, no matter what their current position is, as long as they are furthering their education in an area that will be beneficial to working in the public school arena.  The scholarship grants are disbursed in July, and are usually for the fall semester for the year in which the scholarship is awarded.

Eligibility for scholarship:

  • Any current professional or support staff employee of a public school system which reports to MPSERS (Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System)
  • Educational endeavors available from:
    • Four-year degree granting program institution
    • Community college
    • Technical/vocational institution in Michigan
    • Seminars/workshops from Michigan professional organization
