MARSP Foundation: Lower Level Completion Fund
The MARSP Foundation Lower Level Completion Fund was created to provide sufficient funds to finish the lower level of the MARSP Center, also known as the “little red schoolhouse." Currently, the lower level is an unfinished basement, but architectural plans have been developed to make that area more useable. When the lower level is finished, there will be ample space to concurrently hold several committee meetings. Also, the area can be used as a location for MARSP chapter and area meetings. The plans call for a large meeting room, 2 smaller meeting rooms, 2 restrooms, a small kitchen area, and a storage area.
The unfinished area is currently used for the MARSP Foundation meetings, and occasionally for some chapter and area meetings. However, it is difficult to conduct business in a 6,000 square foot open, non-acoustic room.
Some people wonder why the lower level completion is important when there seem to be more important financial concerns. It is similar to any school building expansion or renovation and is the final stage of creating the MARSP Center. The additional work space will be useful in carrying out MARSP’s work for the fine people who have retired from the public school systems.
The completion of the lower level is to be paid strictly through donations from MARSP members, non-members, friends of MARSP, chapters and areas. Contributions may come In Memoriam or as a general contribution, and the amounts come in many sizes, none are too small or too large. Since this is a designated fund, all contributions must be held in a special account until there is a sufficient balance to finance the construction project. These funds cannot be used for any other purpose.
If you would like to contribute to this important fund, please make your check payable to the MARSP Foundation Lower Level Completion Fund.
